I am sure that some people will find it offensive that I am choosing to disrobe historical figures and portray them in the nude. I believe these women’s bodies played a part in their life’s work, whether or not their bodies were at the forefront of their work. To honor their work we also honor their body, the vessel in which they worked from.

Remembering these women and the work they have done to create an expanded state of femininity for us all is essential to fully understand the gifts we have been given by these women through their lives and work. What unites us all throughout history and time are our bodies. We all share not only brains and hearts but also breasts, vulvas, wombs and asses, and we must celebrate them!

Through remembering these women’s bodies, we remember them as women.
May we remember how similar our bodies are to theirs and may we be grateful for what they used their lives for and created in the world.
May we each wonder what we will create through our bodies in our lifetime.
